Much of the west have been using equipment that uses boxes that stack up as the colony and honey stores increase. These boxes can weigh up to 40kg. The frames are lifted out from the top and the bees undergo massive disturbance whenever the beekeeper works them.
The Slovenian hive accesses the frames from the rear, like books on a shelf. The heaviest weight is one frame.
The AŽ Hive was designed in the late 1800’s by Anton Žnideršic and is used by over 95% of Slovenian beekeepers today.
AŽ hives built into a Bee House makes beekeeping easy enough for everyone, including those in wheelchairs, or with back injury to enjoy this rewarding hobby.
Aussie Mike is committed to bringing this proven design to Australia to open up beekeeping to everyone.
Shipping from Slovenia is very expensive, so Mike is setting up to manufacture these awesome hives right here. Stay tuned for when production is underway.
